David Beckham Academy Trip Thursday 29th January 2009

What a day to remember! About 150 young people from 8 schools met up at Moulsecombe Leisure Centre at 7 0’clock in the morning and there was such a buzz of excitement and anticipation from everyone. We were not disappointed – what a day.

We were met as soon as we arrived at 9.15 and from then on the coaches from the Academy took over sorting all the children into teams. The children took part in such a variety of activities in the morning from ball handling skills to creating their own newspaper to being team managers, nutrition, anatomy and so much more and throughout all their activities they were able to gain points for their team. It didn’t take long before the healthy competitiveness of everyone was so apparent. In the afternoon all teams took part in a football tournament where again they were able to add to their points total. The team spirit of all taking part was so apparent. At the final whistle 150 tired but very excited children (all the big children also!!) waited for the final results – 1st Hertford Juniors and 2nd Middle Street.

Finally to put icing on the cake the children could not believe their luck when they were each presented with a David Beckham football.
